Five Reasons why I am Reluctant to join a Cell Group
There are many reasons why people hesitate to join a Cell Group (CG). Perhaps you have never belonged to a CG before. Maybe you used to be part of a CG but have stopped attending for a while. You might even currently be part of a CG now, though you miss CG meetings now and then.
Whatever may be your experience with CGs, you might have given the following reasons for not attending a CG:
1. It takes effort and energy for me to go and meet people
I have a whole range of responsibilities. Work, caring for my children, medical appointments, doing housework – By the time I finish everything, I am already so tired! I don’t have enough energy to go and meet with a group of people.
2. It takes a lot of time for me to travel down
Not just to travel down, but to get ready too. I need to change to proper attire, make sure that the housework is done earlier, make arrangements for the children… It’s much too time-consuming to add another task to my list.
3. I’m not familiar with new people and once I am there, I may not know how to interact with them
I have always been uncomfortable when it comes to a new person. A whole room of new people can be a bit overwhelming.
4. I’m afraid of long term commitment
If I attend once, will there be the expectation that I must keep going? I’m afraid of disappointing the group, especially if I don’t find the group a good fit for me.
5. I’m not comfortable to go to someone else’s home
Especially when it is someone who I don’t know very well. I will feel quite uneasy.
These may be reasons we have all given to avoid joining a CG. Yet, we all know that the Bible says:
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
– Hebrews 10:24-25
And guess what. If you had given any of the reasons above for not joining a CG, most of these barriers have now been taken away. As BBPC CGs are meeting online during this circuit breaker period, a CG Meeting is just a click away! You don’t even have to leave your house.
Part of the Christian life is about being in fellowship with and being encouraged by our brothers and sisters in Christ. When was the last time you were encouraged by a fellow believer? When was the last time you felt that you were a part of the body of Christ?
Don’t miss the golden opportunity of this circuit breaker — Join a BBPC CG Meeting today!
